The Dash is a group of four old friends who after
years of getting nowhere realized they definitely
should play together as a band. And not just as any
band, as THE band.
Founded in 2003 by the groups main songwriters, Lauri
Koski (vocals, guitar) and Jarkko Hassinen (bass,
vocals), The Dash equals outstanding melodies,
enormous riffs, modern arrangements, intriguing
programming and it's all done with a take-no-prisoners
attitude.
Without sounding inconsistent, their songs can turn in
a matter of seconds from stunning multilayered, Beach
Boys-like vocal harmonies to outrageous metal riffs or
groovy industrial beats.
After struggling for a couple of years to find the
perfect line-up for The Dash, Koski and Hassinen were
glad to find their old friends, Tony Suominen (drums)
and Samuli Väänänen (guitar) playing with them and
bringing their valuable contribution to the band.
The unique sound of The Dash can't really be compared
to any existing band, but their own influences come
from bands such as The Beatles, Guns n' Roses, Abba,
Nine Inch Nails, Tool and various bands that became
famous in the early nineties under the nametag
"grunge".
For 4 years The Dash developed their sound by writing
tons of songs, keeping only the best ones and
discarding the rest. Now, having completed recording
in the latest demos with producer Pekka Laine, The
Dash is ready to hit the road. You've been warned!
